Securing your home doesn’t have to be stressful. There are a million different ways to make the process a bit easier, like these three apps for your phone!
Keeping your home safe is probably high on your priority list. With the crime rate soaring and the fact that nearly everyone has an alarm system now, you don’t want to be left in the ‘homes that are broken into’ statistic. You probably already have an alarm system, and if so then that’s a wonderful choice made by you! Give yourself a pat on the back. Burglars are far less likely to attack a home that has a sign in your front yard with your alarm company’s logo on it than homes that don’t. However, there are a ton of other ways to keep your home secure and they all have one thing in common: your phone. Here are three apps that will keep your home safe and your mind at ease.
1. The Weather Channel
You might be laughing, but weather apps for iphone are actually an incredibly useful app to keep your home and the people you love safe and sound! While you can’t always prevent a severe thunderstorm from hitting your home, you can take preventative measures and adequately prepare your home if you know one is heading your way. Is there a tornado watch? Is hail about to start falling? Is another thunderstorm heading in your direction? Is it just a spot of rain that will be gone in a few minutes? Whatever the case may be, this iphone app will alert you straight from the National Weather Service. You have time to get your family into the closet in the event of a tornado just like you have time to board up your windows or pull your car around into the garage if hail is on the radar.
2. SpotCrime
This iphone app is super handy if you are about to move to a new neighborhood or if you just moved into your new home in a different suburb. It will figure out where you are and determine what types of criminal reports have been recorded in that area. From s3x offenders to break-ins, this app tells you all that you need to know about where you will be living for the next however many years. The incidents reported are all liable through police reports in your specific area. This app is legit, it isn’t just a guessing game about your home and your family’s safety.
3. Alarm.com
For those of you who already have an alarm system, your home is already ten times safer than one without any sort of alarm protection. Most people with an alarm system have heard of this app. It hooks up to your alarm through any of your wireless devices. Essentially, it keeps you in control over your home even after you have already left for work in the morning or while you are out running errands. I use a company that was a little close to where live that provides Keller home security. In the event that you forgot to lock the front door or even if it slipped your mind to arm your alarm system, this app does it for you. Alarm.com’s main goal is to make safeguarding your home a little easier. Based on the reviews by its users, it definitely has succeeded!
